This limited-edition pincushion kit is a special collaboration between Ryukyu Pottery Masahiro Studio in Kin, Okinawa, and sashiko artisan momosashico.
The ceramic pincushion base is handcrafted using locally sourced Okinawan clay and glazes, with nearly all materials originating from Okinawa. Each piece is individually shaped by hand and fired in a traditional climbing kiln fueled by Ryukyu pine, resulting in unique forms and patterns. No two pieces are exactly alike, making every pincushion truly one of a kind.
The kit includes traditional Aizu Momen cotton fabric from Aizuwakamatsu, Fukushima, along with instructions for stitching Himawari-zashi (Sunflower Stitch), one of Nagai Sashiko’s signature patterns. Using the printed grid guide on the fabric, you can enjoy creating this beautiful geometric design step by step.
