About the TSUKIMI Design

Tsukimi literally means "moon viewing." Also known as Otsukimi, it is one of Japan's best-known traditional autumn celebrations. People enjoy viewing the full moon, appreciating its beauty while celebrating the autumn harvest and praying for a good harvest.

This TSUKIMI sashiko design combines three traditional sashiko patterns to express the tranquil atmosphere of an autumn night:

• Asanoha (Hemp Leaf – Hitomezashi version)

• Kasumi-tsunagi (Connected Haze)

• Nowaki (Autumn Breeze)

What's Included

• One vintage fabric with the pattern printed in washable ink

• One yellow silk thread from Itoroku (20 m)

• One Kakishibu (persimmon tannin) dyed sashiko thread from Fujix (20 m)

• Two naturally dyed sashiko threads from Itoroku (50 m each)

Please note:
The pattern is hand-printed with washable ink. Please do not wash the fabric before you finish stitching.

About the Threads

Sashiko is traditionally stitched with cotton thread, but this kit also includes a silk thread to represent the moon. By combining the lustrous texture of silk with the rustic beauty of naturally dyed cotton threads on vintage fabric, the design captures the depth and quiet beauty of an autumn night.

Finished Size

The finished design measures 215.9 × 297 mm (8.5 × 11.7 in.).

It is designed to fit both A4 and US Letter frames, making it easy to display your finished piece.
